This original painting is oil and venetian plaster with a resin finish, and measures 12 x 16 inches. The painting features iconography from Boquillas, Mexico, a charming town just over the Rio Grande/Rio Bravo from Big Bend National Park. Residents of the town sell a variety of handmade housewares. I memorialized one of my favorites: a donkey (not unlike the donkeys a visitor might ride into town after crossing the river), bearing the slogan Chinga tu Muro- a popular political phrase on both sides of the river.

A trip across the Rio Grande to the small village of Boquillas, Mexico inspired this piece. In Boquillas, tourists travel to visit the small restaurants and tour the town. Locals sell small embroidery and handmade figurines. This particular piece combines the atmosphere of friendliness, the beautiful local crafts, and popular political sentiments shared by villagers and folks living on the Texas side of the border as well.
